Gary Preaches at Brazil Celebrating 10th Anniversary of Seminary

They gathered in at about 7pm for the 10th Anniversary of Northeastern Bible Seminary in Carpina, Brazil, about one hour inland from the large coastal city of Recife'. The auditorium was full, the worship enthsiastic. There was cake and strong coffee afterwards. What a joy to preach at this event of celebration and to challenge the seminary leaders, staff and students to make sure they are fisherman of men and not just those who talk and study about introducing people to Christ.

I used the story of Matthew to remind all that Jesus walked in as grace to the banquet that Matthew gave for his friends with Jesus as the guest of honor.

Pastor Tele Moraes is the founder of the seminary but he is quite ill from chest congestion and running a fever. Pastor Ricardo was my translater instead. He is one of the sweetest men God ever created. What a joy to minister with him.

Thanks for stopping by.

New Evangelical Friends Churches in Brazil 2010

Evangelical Friends Churches and World Renewal International announced a new step in their partnership and will plant new churches in Brazil. Dr. John Williams, head of Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region sent a message to me saying, "Let's Go! That was both the spirit and action of the EFC-ER World Mission Board..as we enthusiastically endorsed the the plan to plant "Day One" churches in Brazil, starting January 1, 2010." WRI staff Frank Penna, Wichita, Kansas will serve as the Field Cordinator of this project.

This is not the first project for Evangelical Friends and World Renewal. As a result of a similar partnership and project there are 50 plus Evangelical Friends Churches in Hungary and Romania.

Tele Moraes is the President of World Renewal-Brazil and invitated Evangelical Friends to plant new churches in Brazil. Carol and I rejoice at this opportunity to bring World Renewal's two partners, Community Churches and Evangelical Friends, together for such a partnership.

Gary In Brazil Celebrating 10th Anniversary of Seminary

What a joy to be in Brazil to Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our Northeastern Seminary and Bible College. I first stayed at this facility when it was a full service hotel. Never did we dream until the hotel went up for sale that it could become the headquarters for World Renewal-Brazil and the Northeastern Seminary. [Pictured-Gary and Tele preach and teach at the Seminary] We have about 40 students who are training as church leaders, pastors and church planters. During the day it is the International School, preschoolers thru 9th grade. The school teaches and English core and the message of the Bible. On Sundays the facility is a Community Church. That is maximizing the use of facilities. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Thanks for stopping by.
